The larger bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary conducted the hearing of Hajj scandal case. The Chief Justice in his remarks, said the court knew that its independent decision were not being liked as culture was changing, adding that court had to carry out its duty at any cost. The court also directed the NAB head to leave the charge. A three-member bench comprising Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa was hearing identical petitions against the appointment of former Justice Syed Deedar Hussain Shah as the NAB chairman. KARACHI: A man was killed over resistance in dacoity bid in Kharadar, while infuriated mob tortured to death one of the dacoits, Geo News reported on Thursday. According to details, armed dacoits entered in Kharadar Gao street for dacoity bid and tried to loot people. Over resistance they opened fire on a man as a result he was killed on the spot. Following the death, angry mob caught the dacoits and tortured them. One of the dacoit died on the spot while other was critically injured. The injured was shifted to Civil hospital by the police. JAKARTA: The Indonesian authorities caused forcible landing of the PIA plane carrying 54 passengers at its airport for allegedly violating the country’’s airspace, Geo News reported on Monday. The plane was forced to land in Makassar city Sulawesi province by two Indonesian fighter jets. According to local air force chief the PIA plane was carrying 54 passengers. ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Friday annulled decision of Parliamentary Committee on rejecting the nomination of High Court judges, Geo News reported. Four-member bench of the SC headed by Justice M A Shahid Sidduqui also ordered for issuing notification for extension of tenure of six judges of Sindh and Lahore High Court for one year. In its brief verdict, the bench rejected the recommendation of the parliamentary commission and ordered for issuing notification for extension of four judges of LHC and two of the SHC on the recommendation of Judicial Commission. It is pertinent to mention here that Parliamentary Committee for appointment of judges had rejected recommendation of judicial commission for appointing six High Court judges.(GEO URDU)
