Kazmi arrested in Hajj corruption case

ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested former religious minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi in Hajj corruption scandal after dismissal of his bail plea by the Supreme Court, Geo News reported on Tuesday. According to Geo News reporter, Supreme Court was hearing extension of bail case of Kazmi. During the hearing lawyer of Kazmi presented his argument but following some solid evidences from FIA the court dismissed his bail plea. Later, FIA arrested the former minister outside the courtroom. Bogus voters case: Notice issued to ECP, NADRA, AG

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), NADRA and Attorney General on a petition filed for removal of about 37 million bogus votes from the voter lists, Geo News reported on Tuesday. Two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry conducted the initial hearing of the case. In the petition it was contended that there were 37.8 million bogus votes in the computerized lists prepared by ECP. The petitioner pleaded about removal of all such dubious votes from the list. The court issued notices to Chief Election Commissioner, NADRA and Attorney General seeking detailed response from them within 10 days. (GEO URDU)

Nisar receives President’s letter on appointment of NAB chairman

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the national assembly Chaudhry Nisar has said that he has received President Asif Ali Zardari’s letter, seeking opinion on the appointment of former Justice Deedar Hussain Sahah as Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), this morning. Talking to Hamid Mir in ‘Geo News’ programme ‘Capital Talk’, Chaudhry Nisar stated that he had not gone through the letter, adding that his secretary would response the letter.
