HUNZA: Bad weather in Hunza will likely affect the helicopter and boat service, Geo News reported Wednesday. On the other hand, affectees said government did not provide boats for the boat service started yesterday and majority of the boats owned local residents and traders using boats for goods transportation rather than passengers and therefore, affectees are facing problems. The affectees demanded the government to provide large boats for their movement. Meanwhile, sporadic rain continued in Hunza since last night, which will likely suspend the helicopter service today. Three more houses in Galmat have been submerged after increment of two inches in the lake level.

HUNZA: More areas in upper Hunza, Gojal inundated as Attabad lake level rises. The outflow of water from the lake is more than 14,000 cusecs. Meanwhile, the process of blasting huge boulders is underway to widen spillway. The water discharge from the lake is exceeded from 14,000 cusecs whereas inflow is 12,100 cusecs. Many houses and fields submerged in upper Hunza Gojal due to rise in lake level. Also, RCC Bridge, the lone land connection between Chaman Gul and Galmat inundated whereas heli service remained suspended in Hunza because of bad weather.
HUNZA: The water inflow in Attabad Lake has yet again surpassed outflow, rendering the water accumulation in lake on rise, which has resulted in submerging low-lying areas located in upper Hunza, Geo news reported Sunday. According to official sources, the water outgoing from spillway is 7500 cusecs but the level is still on rise owing to its incoming from various corners due to quick melting of snow glaciers. Big stones have slipped out from spillway thus witnessing an increase in water outflow, witnesses said. Meanwhile, relief and rescue activities for affectees are underway in Gilgit and Hunza areas under clean and hot conditions.
HUNZA: Water flow from Attabad Lake has been increased 200 cusecs as erosion near spillway is continued. The inflow into Attabad Lake has reached 6,200 cusecs while the outflow through the spillway has reached 6,400 cusecs whereas erosion in spillway embankments continues. The weather is clear and sunny in Hunza on Thursday, however, thick clouds at peaks fear suspension of heli service, which was resumed yesterday. After resumption of heli service, three choppers airlifted the people to Shashkat, Gulmit and Phisu. On the other hand, while talking to Geo News, DCO Hunza Zafar Waqar Taj said efforts are underway for the resumption of heli service whereas administration is mulling to carry blast to broaden spillway opening. The Hunza-Gilgit section of Karakoram Highway is opened for traffic.

HUNZA: The landslide-pushed lake in Attabad continued to pose threat to the lives of people in Hunza, as the water level at the Lake rose by six inches in the last 48 hours with decreased inflow and outflow from the spillway, Geo News reported Sunday. According to the government sources, the inflow at the lake is 5400 cusecs at Phassu; while, the discharge from the spillway is 5100 cusecs. The government sources said the lake water is making cuts near the Spillway; however, it is at slowed pace. Meantime, notices have been issued for the evacuation of five houses situated near the Lake in Gulmit and Shashkat. The weather is pleasant in Attabad and Hunza; accordingly, the helicopter service for the evacuation of the affected people to safer places would continue. Meanwhile, the experts said spillway breakdown is no way imminent in near future.
