Sardar Abbasi refuses to withdraw resignation

MURREE: Former chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and MNA Sardar Mehtab Abbasi refused to withdraw his resignation from his seat. During an advisory council meeting held under the chairmanship of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, Abbasi was forced to withdraw but he did not do so. The meeting deliberated in detail on the issues like VAT, upcoming budget, petitions against NRO verdict and 18th Amendment. Sardar Mehtab Abbasi was specially invited in the meeting. Abbasi, a key party leader from the Hazara belt has resigned over the renaming of NWFP.

Shahi Syed holds Governor Sindh responsible for target killings

KARACHI: Governor Sindh is responsible for the fresh wave of target killings in Karachi, alleged Awami National Party (ANP) President Sindh Shahi Syed while addressing a press conference here on Thursday. The ANP leader said there is only one force behind these killings in Karachi and warned the ‘so-called Thekedars of Karachi’ to stop seeing Karachi as their personal state. “It seems as if it is MQM’s government in Sindh province,” he said, adding, Pakistan People’s Party obeys every order of MQM. People of Hazara are our brothers, they have been and will always remain our brothers, said Awami National Party (ANP) President Sindh Shahi Syed while addressing a press conference here on Thursday. He said no matter what language is spoken in Hazara, majority of the population there belongs to Pashtuns community. Why only poor Pakhtuns become victims to the target killings in Karachi, he asked. He said all the political parties have the right to do politics in Karachi. “The people of Hazara are being misguided, we are with Baba Hyder Zaman, leader of Hazara movement,” Shahi Syed said.

Iftikhar advises against doing politics on Hazara issue

PESHAWAR: Mian Iftikhar Hussain, the Information Minister of Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa, has said that the Hazara province matter should not be turned into a ‘Pakhtun or non-Pakhtun’ issue. Addressing a news conference here on Thursday, he said nobody should try to do politics in the name of Hazara province. The brothers of Hazara would be warmly welcomed, Hussain said, adding they would be offered more than their due share. On the other hand, Tehrik Hazara Province (THP) leaders said the establishment of a separate province was not practically impossible. They said more than 10 countries, including Israel, are smaller than Hazara division, the argued.

Iftikhar renews offer of talks with Hazarewals

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Wednesday renewed an offer to talk to the people of Hazara Division, saying the government respects their views on the renaming of NWFP. Briefing the media after attending a consultative meeting with Hazara-based MPs, he said a consensus has been reached on seven points in the meeting. “These points include debate on Hazara province and Abaseen in KP Assembly, early completion of judicial inquiry and option of dialogue with the people of Hazara,” he announced. “We are trying to defuse the tense situation in Hazara and are ready for dialogue to resolve the issue.”

PPP warned of irreparable loss in Hazara belt

BALAKOT: Leaders of Tehrik Hazara Province warned Wednesday that the ruling PPP would suffer an irreparable loss if it did not change its attitude towards the people of Hazara. Addressing a gathering in Balakot tehsil of Mansehra, THP chief Baba Haider Zaman said both federal and provincial governments had closed their eyes toward Hazara, which forced them to launch a civil disobedience movement. The speakers said that they would hold talks with every such person who would have the authority. The people of Hazara, they said, have marked their destiny.

PESHAWAR: Jamat-e-Islami has announced to go for a full-fledged campaign against power load-shedding, lawlessness, price hike, unemployment and Value Added Tax (VAT). The resolutions passed at the Local Bodies Convention organized by Jamat-e-Islami here, expressed concerns over unrest across NWFP including FATA and Hazara resulting in loss of precious lives. The convention, terming it failure of the government announced to kick off of a campaign against it all. Among the resolutions passed, one demanded holding of local bodies elections on party basis and announcing the LB election schedule.

Sharif unsatisfied over BB murder report

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) chief Mian Nawaz Sharif said rafts of questions regarding the murder of Benazir Bhutto are left unanswered, Geo News reported Saturday. Talking to media, he said the question why the place of BB’s murder was washed out hurriedly, is still unsatisfied. Commenting on Hazara situation, he said the elements of vested interests fueled the fire in Hazara and burnished their image at the cost of Pakistan, adding his party conceded to the Awami National Party (ANP) in the larger national interest. ‘If my politics is put at stake, I do not mind; but, the country should remain intact,’ he said.
