Nawaz forms committee to help Hazara affectees

LAHORE: PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has constituted a committee with the directives to oversee the arrangements being made to provide relief to the affected people of Hazara District. This he said while speaking to PML-N Gilgit Baltistan President Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman on telephone. Nawaz said his party would not leave the affected persons alone at this difficult time and directed the PML-N workers to actively take part in relief efforts. The PML-N chief said he would also ask Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to dispatch relief goods for the displaced and affected people of Hazara.

Sania’s family members reach Lahore

LAHORE: Shoaib Malik’s father-in-law and Sania Mirza’s father Imran Mirza has arrived in Lahore today with Sania’s sister Anam Mirza and other relatives. They have been taken from the Allama Iqbal Airport to a local five-star hotel where the eighth floor has been booked for them. Sania’s family reached Lahore from Delhi through a PIA flight PK-271. While talking with media after arriving at the airport, Imran Mirza said that we are happy to reach Pakistan. We have come here for attending the ceremonies of valima and reception. Replying to a question, he said that we pray to God for success of this marriage. Meanwhile addressing at a press conference in Sialkot along with MPA Chaudhry Akhlaq, Shoaib’s brother-in-law Imran Zafar said that they are completely following the government’s policy of avoiding un-necessary electricity. Their house is being illuminated through generator and Wapda is not extending any undue favour. He said that Shoaib and Sania would reach Sialkot tomorrow for attending their reception. Imran Zafar said that journalists would be fully cooperated at the reception but they would not be allowed to cover the ceremony. He said that he himself is making all the arrangements of Shoaib’s valima and there is no interference by the city administration. MPA Chaudhry Akhlaq said on this occasion that there is no ban on serving more than one dish. This may be recalled that all decorative lights were taken off from the house of Shoaib after Wapda made a raid for illuminating it.

Britain extends flight ban until 1200 GMT Sunday

LONDON: Britain has extended a ban on most flights in its airspace until at least 1200 GMT Sunday due to the volcanic ash cloud from Iceland, air authorities announced. “The volcanic ash cloud from Iceland is moving around and changing shape,” the National Air Traffic Services said in a statement Saturday. “Based on the latest information from the Met Office, NATS advises that the restrictions currently in place across UK controlled airspace will remain in place until at least 13:00 (UK time) tomorrow.” “We will continue to monitor Met Office information and review our arrangements in line with that,” it said.

Workers Convention called off amid security concerns: Qaim

LARKANA: Owing to security concerns at the death anniversary of PPP founder Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah Sunday called off Workers Convention over insistence of party’s workers for an indefinite period. He said that new date for the convention would be announce later. Earlier, Qaim Ali Shah, provincial ministers Ayaz Soomro, Zulfiqar Mirza, Agha Siraj Durrani and Manzoor Wasan arrived in Larkana to review the arrangements being made ahead of ZAB’s death anniversary at Garhi Khuda Bux. They paid a visit to the shrine and offered Fateha. Later, speaking to media, Shah said that complaints made against the corrupt nazims would be investigated and action would be taken against them according to the law. He stated that there are security concerns on the occasion of ZAB’s death anniversary. However, he said strategy was in place to deal with these threats.
