APPNA organizes observation of Health Care Day in US
DALLAS: The Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) today organized a free health care event for residents of North Texas as part of National Free Health Care Day in separate states of US. Similar events took place today in over 50 communities across the country. Local doctors expected over 300 residents of North-Texas to receive health care as part of the day. “We are happy to give back to our community,” said Dr. Basheer Ahmed, organizer and volunteer at the local APPNA event. “With the economy still struggling, it’s important for all North Texans to do what we can to help.” Local Pakistani-American doctors offered their services as part of the larger APPNA National Health Care Initiative. APPNA is a charitable organization dedicated to fostering scientific development and education in the field of medicine and to delivering better health care, irrespective of race, color, creed, or gender. Established in 1976, APPNA, a non-profit 501(c)3, is one of the largest ethnic medical societies in North America and represents more than 15,000 physicians and health care professionals of Pakistani descent serving across the United States and Canada. “Pakistani-Americans are an important part of the American family and have been giving back for decades,” said Dr. Zeelaf Munir MD, president of APPNA. “APPNA doctors have donated their time and services for years, but we hope to help thousands of our fellow Americans on our first coordinated National Free Health Care Day.”
